INSPECTOR CASINO is a radio and performance project of Hans Kuiper. It is a personal exploration of the boundaries and potentialities of the contemporary art world. I am an insider and outsider, a companion and a threat to established and want to be artists and art institutions.
The art world is fascinating for me in its mix of elitarian and populistic outlooks, its shabby financial constructions, its clientelism and its ‘grandeur’, but also its sincere initiatives at the base. Still, it seems one of the few places where people can realise their imagary to the utmost. These contradictions fascinate me and i try to process them in performances, installations and sound works, which i intend to exhibit or broadcast, and ‘live meetings’ with (mostly) coming up artists in a radio setting.
Abstractly spoken, RADIO is used as a medium to create interactive communities; that means that radio is not used in the traditional one way mass medium approach, but as a means to involve artists and to ’stir up’ intellectual processes. I create and explore networks, a process that evolves in- and outside the radio studio.
